Technical Information

One of the things that set us apart from the competition is our ability to cut and finish stone accurately, precisely and consistently. Over the following page we illustrate each given subject area where you will find step by step information on:

Template & Installation

We have illustrated some of our most popular designs and finishes; if you have any special requirements, let us know and we’ll be happy to create them for you.

Template & Installation

No one knows our stone the way we do. So to provide you with that final reassurance of F.Jones Cleveland’s quality we employ and train our own installation experts. We provide
a national service and will carefully fit your work surface to the high standards expected
of F Jones Cleveland Ltd - no matter where you are in the UK.

Maximum 7 day turnaround from template to fit - every time!

Our installation teams undergo an intensive six week factory training program to gain valuable product finishing skills and a detailed understanding of each stage of the manufacturing process. Additionally, every template team member has achieved a minimum of City & Guilds level 3 Auto Cad qualifications before receiving practical training on the Pro-liner Digital Template System both in Holland and at our factory on Teesside.

With our nationwide service, liveried vans and uniformed teams you can be confident that we represent you responsibly and professionally wherever and whatever the job.

Step Images Step One: Profiles.

Edge profiles can make all the difference. We supply work surfaces with a wide variety of edge details and thicknesses; from the standard square 3mm chamfer through to our customers own designs – or simply choose from the options featured.

Step Images Step Two: Corner Shapes.

Corners can be as simple as a butt joint or as complex as a cropped, mitred corner. We can advise on the best corner solutions to any design and will guide you through those vitally important finishing touches that distinguish an excellent piece of work from an average one.

Step Images Step Three: Cut Out's.

Depending on your kitchen or bathroom design, we have a wide range of cut-out solutions. From a simple tap hole or a U shaped cut-out for services - we can manufacture whatever is needed.

Step Images Step Four: Sinks & Hobs.

Choose the sink and cooker before selecting the cut-outs required. We are able to provide cut-outs for a wide variety of sinks and hobs - Belfast sinks, under-mounted sinks; flush fitted cooker hobs and many more designs.

Step Images Step Five: Drainer Grooves.

Etched into your work top, drainer grooves channel water back to the sink. Drainer grooves
can also be incorporated around the perimeter of your work surface as a spill stop.

Step Images Step Six: Recessed Drainers.

A recessed drainer is simply an area of your work top that has been partially cut out to provide a slightly lower work surface area. Adding drainer grooves to this area means even the most demanding kitchen user will be able to keep their work surfaces in pristine condition.

Step Images Step Seven: Upstands & Splash Backs.

Upstands and splash back panels offer a practical solution to avoiding splash marks on your walls as well as providing a perfect framed look to your kitchen or bathroom. A range of different edge details can be specified as well as either butt or mitred cuts for corners.

Step Images Step Eight: Plan Layout.

We have provided this section so that you might sketch out a plan showing the desired kitchen layout. A useful check list has been added below to ensure you don’t forget to include any important elements.

  • Provide a fully detailed dimensional plan showing the kitchen layout
  • Provide a drawing showing the layout of the work units and the locations of sinks, hobs, taps etc together with dimensions and angles
  • Identify any corner angles and any offsets if the angles are not square
  • Identify required edge profiles
  • Identify desired corner shapes
  • Identify location of desired cut-outs for pipe work, unusual features along the walls, taps, plug controls etc.
  • Provide details of your chosen sink/s and cooker hob/s location, dimensions and the type of fitting (flush, recessed, under-mounting etc.)
  • Select your chosen pattern for drainer grooves, perimeter spillage grooves and hot rods.
  • Identify locations.
  • Identify if you wish your drainer grooves to be sited within a recessed drainer area.
  • Identify splash backs and their dimensions
  • Identify any other things you’d like such as stone counter-back units (to carry knives, soaps etc.) and grooved and plain cutting boards
  • Provide address and contact details – we may wish to contact you in the event of a query.
